Master Data Analyst and Governance Lead

Ouster, Inc is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Master Data Analyst and Governance Lead to own, manage, and govern master data across our core financial and operational systems. This individual will be the primary owner of master data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across Netsuite (ERP), Planful (FP&A), Salesforce (CRM), and Workiva (Reporting) in a public company environment. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in these systems and a strong understanding of financial processes and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX compliance).
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Master Data Ownership: Act as the single owner and subject matter expert for all master data, including but not limited to customer, vendor, chart of accounts, and product data.
- Develop and implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring dashboards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Proactively identify and resolve data gaps, inconsistencies, and issues across all systems.
- Lead data cleansing and enrichment initiatives, including reviewing and deduplicating records.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure compliance with company policies and SOX controls.
- Define and manage metadata standards, taxonomies, and data lineage across all platforms.
- Collaborate with business data owners across finance, sales, and operations to ensure master data integrity meets business rules and requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for master data within Netsuite, Planful, Salesforce, and Workiva, managing configurations, user access, and system enhancements related to data.
- Work closely with IT and integration developers to troubleshoot data quality issues related to integrations between systems.
- Support data imports, exports, and integrations with third-party applications.
- Financial Reporting and Analytics:
- Ensure master data is accurately maintained for financial planning (Planful) and external reporting (Workiva).
- Assist in generating ad-hoc reports and providing data analysis to support financial planning, audits, and business decision-making.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Sales Operations, Internal Audit and IT, to define and prioritize master data needs and system changes.
- Provide training and support to end-users on data governance principles, policies, and best practices.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience in a data analyst, master data, or data governance role, preferably within a public company.
- Hands-on experience with Netsuite, and Planful is required, Salesforce and Workia desired.
- Strong understanding of financial processes (e.g., Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash) and the impact of master data on financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with data quality management, metadata management, and data governance best practices.
- Familiarity with financial reporting requirements for public companies (e.g., SOX compliance).
- Expertise in data analysis principles, techniques, and tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, reporting tools).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Conditions:
- Hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office (San Francisco) and 2 days remote work
- 80% of office / administrative desk work and hand articulation for typing / handling of paperwork / etc.
- Ability to lift up to 10lbs as needed, part of office / clerical work
